Building the Open Metaverse Podcast Coming Soon

I’m excited to announce that Building the Open Metaverse, a podcast where technologists share their insights about how the community is building the open metaverse together, will launch tomorrow, October 28.

Building the Open Metaverse podcast hosted by Patrick Cozzi (Cesium) and Marc Petit (Epic Games).

Over the summer, Marc Petit, VP and general manager of Unreal Engine at Epic Games, and I co-hosted the Building the Open Metaverse session at SIGGRAPH. The event brought experts from across industries to discuss the need for openness and interoperability as organizations collaborate to build the future metaverse.

The session was inspiring and productive, and it was clear that the conversation needed to continue with more breadth and depth, so we started the Building the Open Metaverse podcast. We hope it will inspire new ideas, facilitate collaboration, and encourage all metaverse participants, from developers to consumers, to contribute in meaningful ways.

For Episode 1, Marc and I hosted Matthew Ball, author of The Metaverse Primer and Samatha G. Wolfe, NYU Professor and founder of PitchFWD, to get their take on what the metaverse is, whether it’s already underway, and what it might look like in the future.

For Episode 2, we were joined by Neil Trevett, President of The Khronos Group and VP of Developer Ecosystems at NVIDIA; Ruth Suehle, Director of Community Outreach at Red Hat, and David Morin of the Academy Software Foundation to discuss governance of open standards.

For Episode 3, Bill Vass, Vice President of Engineering at Amazon Web Services, gave us his take on metaverse cloud infrastructure.

Like the Internet, the metaverse will be built by many. Building the Open Metaverse will be a place for productive discussion and debate, and an opportunity for Marc and I, our podcast guests, and the community at large to learn from each other’s expertise and perspectives.

Be sure to subscribe to the podcast and join us tomorrow and beyond as we advance an open metaverse.
