Bao Tran Joins the Cesium 3D Team

I’m happy to announce that Bao Tran has joined Cesium’s 3D team. Bao is passionate about all things computer graphics: some of our first conversations were about deferred shading techniques and insights from studying the Blender source code. In his free time he builds rendering engines to test out new ideas. Bao is excited to bring this same enthusiasm to the Cesium.

Bao will be working across CesiumJS and the tiling pipelines. To start this includes stabilizing the WebGL 2.0 backend in CesiumJS and adding visual quality improvements across the 3D stack.

Bao graduated from Drexel University with a major in Computer Science. While in college he held a co-op at Bentley Systems where he worked on iModel.js, a starter kit for developing web applications for infrastructure digital twins. Previously he did a co-op at Drexel where his team developed an application to automate appointment scheduling in the Academic Advising department.

Welcome, Bao!
