Sean Receiving IEEE Award

Sean Receiving IEEE Young Electrical Engineer of the Year Award.

Congratulations to Sean Lilley from the Cesium team! Sean was awarded the IEEE Philadelphia Section’s “Delaware Valley Young Electrical Engineer of the Year Award” for 2018 at an event held at the Union League of Philadelphia on April 14. The award is for candidates with “creative, important, and widely recognized work” in addition to “contributions to professional, civic, and charitable affairs.”

Sean was recognized for his contributions to open-source software and standards for 3D visualization of massive heterogeneous data in the A&D, CAD, drone, and geospatial industries. Sean has been a key contributor to Cesium and to 3D Tiles. His professional work as the lead 3D software developer for the Cesium team has contributed to Cesium’s being downloaded more than 10,000 times each month and being adopted across many industry verticals including A&D, CAD/BIM, drone, oil & gas, agriculture, and geospatial. In addition, Sean regularly presents his work at conferences and mentors students at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also gives guest lectures.
