Cesium BOF at SIGGRAPH 2016

You are invited to the annual Cesium BOF at SIGGRAPH to learn about the latest Cesium development and community news. There will be Cesium swag too. This is the Cesium event of the year!

Here’s a preview of the program:

Virtual Globes Using WebGL and Cesium

Tuesday, July 26, 2016, 10:30 am–12:00 pm
Anaheim Convention Center
Room 203 B Tom Fili, Cesium, Organizer

Cesium State of the Union
Patrick Cozzi, Cesium

A celebration of the Cesium community’s accomplishments over the past year, including the latest showcases and features, and a quick look at our bright future with an eye on 3D Tiles and glTF.

3D Tiles and OGC‘s 3D Portrayal Service Standard
Ralf Gutbell, Fraunhofer

The 3D-Tiles specification fits very well the Open Geospatical Consortium’s new standard: The 3D Portrayal Service. This talk shows Fraunhofer IGD’s first steps to implement the standards features based on open-source technology and how 3D Tiles supports it.

Making Drone Data Useful in Cesium
Chris Cooper, Propeller

A behind-the-scenes look at some of the Cesium-based computer graphics tech in the drone data platform Propeller Aerobotics.

Publishing Reality Meshes to Web from Bentley ContextCapture using Cesium 3D Tiles
Makai Smith, Bentley

With Bentley ContextCapture, you can use digital photographs to produce fully-textured 3D models of the most challenging existing real-world conditions—at scales as large as entire cities—in order to easily and quickly provide context for design, construction, and operations decisions for all types of infrastructure and geospatial projects. This talk demonstrates the use of Cesium 3D Tiles, including multiple geospatial data types and attribute data, to view ContextCapture models on the web.

Baking AO in the glTF Pipeline
Gary Li, Cesium

We recently added a stage to glTF pipeline for baking Ambient Occlusion (AO) to models. Users can now easily add additional realism to their glTF models with minimal shader modification. We will go over some under-the-hood optimizations for speeding up ray casting in JavaScript.

Visualizing Geostationary Satellite Orbits in Cesium
Ed Mackey, Analytical Graphics, Inc.

We’ll take a look at a group of communications satellites flying in a particular orbit class known as geostationary orbits and discuss how to visualize their positions with Cesium and WebGL.
