Media Vision VIDEO Drivers
These are various Media Vision VIDEO drivers for the
ProMovie Spectrum and ProMovie Studio Boards. There are NO
AUDIO CARD or CDROM drivers here!
I received them from Grant Newland <star@gvi.net>
on January 21, 1996. He received them from a Media Vision
download site "last year". I have tried the "pmstud21"
driver with my ProMovie Studio and CU-SeeMe WhitePine 10a2, and
it works. With my older driver, I got only about 4 grays in the
grayscale.
Update 6/96: I now have these drivers working in White Pine
release version 2.01, with the following caveat:
- I can't figure out how to run palettized video. I can save
a palette from "vidcap", but I can't see how to make
CUSM use it. It will run in 32K or 16M color mode, but doesn't
digitize very pretty colors on my system. In the earlier beta,
or else with Cornell, I had it working with a captured palette.
If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know.
- If I set it to "CU-SeeMe Gray", it inverts the
display to a negative image. You have to check "invert gray
palette" and then RESTART CUSM. The "apply" button
doesn't work. You then have to recheck "invert gray palette"
every time before you quit so the next time it'll start up correctly.
It seems they forget to save that setting when they quit, or
else erase it when after they start up.
The other drivers are anyone's guess. Please Email me at the
address at the bottom of the page if you can classify the drivers
and I'll upload the explanatory text.
I ran a cursory virus check with McAfee and Norton virus checkers
from last year. I've made reasonable effort to protect downloaders,
but be advised that you DOWNLOAD AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I make no warranty of usability, safety, or fitness for any
particular purpose. I did not write any of these; I post them
here as a convenience only.

If you want Multimedia, CDROM, or Sound Card drivers, go right
to Media Vision:
Update 1/30/98:
I have received several admonitions from industrious surfers
and they have brought to light a WORKING MV FTP SITE! Try this
link:
Thanks to Chris Wagener for the link and the notification.
Also: Bob Nash says the link below works again. Thanks, Bob.
If you want Multimedia, CDROM, or Sound Card drivers, go right
to Media Vision:
THIS LINK WILL NOT WORK (SEE BELOW). 1/5/98
Updated 7/2/97 with its new Silicon Valley Technology Group
home.

Update 1/5/98:
ATTENTION: To my knowledge, Media Vision is out of business.
Their FTP/Web site at the link immediately above DOES NOT WORK.
I'm leaving it here for reference only; it is the last known address.
I DO NOT HAVE SOUND CARD OR CDROM DRIVERS. PLEASE DO
NOT EMAIL ME ASKING FOR THEM. My recommendation is to throw
away your ancient Media Vision products and get the new, cheap,
Windows 95-enabled sound cards and CDROMs available today. If
you don't know how to find cheap ones, you can Email me and I'll
help you.
